Locomore, a Berlin-based start up, has launched the world’s first crowd funded train service, and a green one at that.
The renovated 1970s train, with its retro orange and brown livery, offers one return trip a day from Stuttgart to Berlin via Frankfurt and Hanover.
A one-way Stuggart-Berlin ticket with Locomore costs upwards from €22 versus €115 on Deutsche Bahn. The journey time takes over six hours.
Locomore, which is powered by 100% green electricity, is aiming to lure people away from long distance buses and cars, and consider a green option instead.
Locomore also offers organic food and fairtrade coffee on board.
