Soulardarity: Bringing lights back to a Detroit block, community-controlled style

Soulardarity is a collective that is bringing lights back to a block in Detroit, Michigan with community-owned solar-powered street lights.

Soulardarity is building a brighter future in Highland Park with education and people-powered clean energy. The community collective is working to install solar-powered streetlights, save money on energy bills, and work together with neighbouring communities to build a just and equitable energy system for all.

In 2011, Highland Park was literally left in the dark when their streetlights were repossessed.

Soulardarity say: “We envision a lighting system that is affordable, reliable, safe, inclusive, and community controlled.”
