UMIJOO: A children’s illustrative book, in the making, about ocean conservation needs your support

Environmentalist Casson Trenor has teamed up with artist Caia Koopman to create a children’s book, UMIJOO, that aims to raise awareness of the importance of ocean conservation whilst inspiring the next generation “who will grow up to be the leaders we so desperately need”.

UMIJOO is the story of a young girl who embarks on a magical journey underwater where she learns the increasing pressure the world’s oceans face against overfishing, dumping and habitat destruction.

The 50-page children’s book, which will feature a gallery-ready painting by Caia Koopman on each page, has been launched as an initiative via Patreon where the pair are raising funds for the artist so she can dedicate the next 16 months or so to create illustrations for the book.

UMIJOO, authored by Casson Trenor and illustrated by Caia Koopman, is a fun and informative book that is likely to resonate with people of all ages who are passionate about saving the oceans.

Casson Trenor and Caia Koopman said: “Both of us are passionate about creating solutions to this massive problem. We strongly believe that if environmentally minded people of today can find a way to reach the next generation and influence their thinking, they will grow up to be the leaders that we so desperately need.

“This book isn’t just for young children – it’s for all of us. We feel that the use of such advanced artwork will help the book’s message gain an even wider reach.”
