Gilles Peterson’s Clyde Stubblefield Tribute Mix honours the “funky drummer” legend

Drummer Clyde Stubblefield, the man behind the drums on the classic Funky Drummer track, played drums for James Brown for six years and inspired a wave of hip hop artists, among others, who sampled his rhythms.

Gilles Peterson’s Clyde Stubblefield Tribute Mix pays tribute to the talented drummer, who recently passed away on 18 February. The tribute mix features classics from Public Enemy.
