Wooden wicks used to create eco-friendly candles

Sustainable wood wicks is the latest move by candle-making manufacturers towards an eco-friendly product.

In an effort to create eco-friendly candles, some manufacturers are using sustainable wooden wicks, which not just look good but also burn slower than traditional cotton wicks, meaning more flame time, and have a distinct gentle crackle whilst burning which adds to the atmosphere that the candles evoke.

Wooden wicks produce a slightly larger flame than cotton wicks and if trimmed properly are said to create a cleaner burn with less soot residue on the sides of jar candles.

Among the companies to turn its attention to creating an eco-friendly range of candles is Root Candles. Root Candles’ Seeking Balance range are made from all natural soy-based wax which are coloured with vegetable-based dyes. These holistic candles  combine the powers of colour, essential oils and the element of wood to promote wellbeing.

Root Candles’ Seeking Balance candles come in a variety of “moods” based on what you desire. The deep blue Meditate candle, evoking inner peace and focus, combines with citrus, myrhh and olibanum to create focus, relaxation and clarity essential for the journey of meditation.

The light blue Awaken candle works with essential oils of zesty lime, orange and grapefruit with basil, cilantro and thyme to promote alertness and awareness.

Root Candles’ Seeking Balance range are available in candle jars, votives and wax melts. These sustainable candle beauties also come in earth-friendly packaging printed with soy inks.
