Nautilus: Japanese jazz-funk trio’s slick cover of Roy Ayers’ We Live in Brooklyn Baby

Classic Roy Ayers tune We Live in Brooklyn Baby gets a new treatment courtesy of the Japanese jazz-funk trio, Nautilus.

Nautilus’s slick production of We Live in Brooklyn Baby would do the legendary vibraphonist and vocalist Roy Ayers proud, with its modern rare groove spin.

Nautilus is a Japanese trio comprised of drummer Toshiyuki Sasaki, keyboardist Daisuke Takeuchi, and bassist Shigeki Umezawa.

We Live in Brooklyn Baby is the first track from Nautilus’s forthcoming album, Nautiloid Quest. The 12-track album, which will be released on 23 June via the German imprint, Agogo Records, features a selection of Nautilus’s two full-length studio recordings, previously only available in Japan.

Nautiloid Quest also features unreleased new material.

Nautilus’s Nautiloid Quest is available to pre-order now via Bandcamp
