Magic Ranch El Palmar, a beachside retreat that includes two stunning wood cabins, is an idyllic space set in the midst of Andalucia’s surf capital, El Palmar in Cádiz.
Spain’s El Palmar – a long, straight stretch of unspoiled, golden-sand beach – is popular with surfers and has a lively nightlife during the summer. In spite of its proximity to the Atlantic shore and the local albeit seasonal nightlife, Magic Ranch el Palmar offers holidaymakers a serene and peaceful stay that matches the overall laidback vibe of this coastal town.
Magic Ranch El Palmar is likely to suit the whole family or party, with an inclination towards surf, sunbathe, meditate or kids playtime on the beach. The two properties that lie within the “sustainable setting” of Magic Ranch El Palmar is protected by magical trees that include old olive trees and cactuses.
Magic HQ, the larger of the two cabins, which is almost entirely made from wood brings a little Californian flavour to Andalucia. The charming and magical beachside manor, which is home to two double bedrooms, has an open plan kitchen and living room that opens onto sea views via sliding glass doors.
Kitted out in a “Bohemian Colonial meets California beach style” vibe, the natural wood beach house features a glamourous yet unpretentious array of furnishings that include wicker cabinets, chairs and sofas, and pastel-coloured outdoor furniture.
Each piece of home and outdoor furnishings tastefully and harmoniously blends into the natural wood framework, and the surrounding landscape. Another sustainable plus point is that Magic HQ is fully powered by solar energy.
Keeping in line with the Californian-inspired living set up, a smaller cabin, Magic on Stills, which houses two bedrooms, is reminiscent of Malibu Stilt houses.
Magic Ranch El Palmar sits in the midst of two very strong elemental presences – that being water and the earth. Sea views can be had throughout the property. And a walk to the beach, will take you across the Dehesa, a natural park, which is home to beautiful local birds, flowers, chameleons, and local Retinto cows. The dunes and foliage en route are now being carefully preserved with elegant solid wooden walkways leading to the beach.
In addition to its idyllic location and tranquil energy, Magic Ranch el Palmar, with its self-sufficient vegetable garden and decks, often plays host to gatherings including yoga retreats and “conscious groups”. This was the intention of Nika, a German-American travel journalist and owner of the Magic Ranch el Palmar, in creating the space itself.
Nika, who has been living in the Cádiz province for over a decade, has a “deep adoration for the Coast of the light and its abundance”. According to the Magic Ranch El Palmar website, Nika “created the Magic ranch, inspired by modern Californian architecture, as an inspriring place for mindful groups to share, get inspired, enhance health, find some new magic and follow joy”.
