Reyouzable is providing a sustainable shopping service that sells products people use every day, without the everyday packaging waste.
The delivery service, which currently operates and delivers to the east London area, sells dry food products such as rice, nuts, coffee and tea, and home cleaning products including laundry liquid, hand soap and shampoo.
Customers can choose whether they desire to use their own containers and bottles or purchase reusable glass containers from Reyouzable. The first time an order is placed through Reyouzable’s website, the company deliver them in the reusable containers or they come and fill up your own containers with the products. Reyouzable will come back and refill the containers whenever they are empty.
Reyouzable was formed to offer a way of buying products in reusable packaging and thereby reducing the amount of packaging which is sent to landfill, for incineration or recycling after being used only once.
Reyouzable say: ”Moving towards a more sustainable lifestyle is not always straightforward, and we do not claim to have all the answers, but we do think that the world’s resources can and should be used more efficiently, and that progress towards this goal could be made more quickly than it currently is.”
As consumers adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and switch off from use of single use plastic altogether, companies like Reyouzable are likely to have a wider appeal and reach.
Some may say the stock on Reyouzable is fairly limited. But that is not an issue, as what they sell here is basic food staples.
Shopping sustainably is not about having a multitude of choices a supermarket provides, but having 1 or 2 choices – “brown rice or white rice” – and that’s it. It’s this kind of “sustainable shopping culture”, if it were, that reduces waste and encourages buying only what you require.
In their efforts to be a sustainable business, Reyouzable rely on the support of conscious consumers. The company say: “Reyouzable’s short-term aim is to demonstrate that there are many consumers who support this goal – but we cannot do this without your suppport.”
Reyouzable is also open to working with other organisations and individuals to “find better and better ways of consuming everyday products without wasting resources unnecessarily”.
Sharing information about sustainable lifestyle and living and how to create a sustainable world takes a collective of people working together and towards the same goal – helping to preserve the planet, the environment and Mother Nature’s children. No matter where in the world one is based, we all have something to share and learn from one another.
