Cataki is a new app which connects recyclable waste collectors in Brazilian cities to people who want to recycle.
From the 400 kg of garbage produced by each Brazilian per year, only 12 kg are recycled, with 90% of those through street collectors.
With the Cataki app, it makes it possible for residents to find the collector closest to them, get in touch with them, negotiate values and the best way to take the material.
The Cataki app currently connects people to recyclable waste collectors in Recife, Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro
Breno Castro Alves, from Cataki, said: “It’s a possibility of income generation, while promoting sustainability and recycling.”
