Sahara Safari Camp, bounded by the Moroccan Sahara Desert, is a luxury tented wilderness camp where desert enthusiasts can experience varied landscapes – from palm-filled oases, vast sand dunes, fortified mud-built villages, ancient lake-beds through to star-filled dark skies.
Located in the Draa Valley region, near Zagora and Tagounite in Southern Morocco, the Sahara Safari Camp offers travellers the chance to experience the Sahara in comfort and style – think tents with cast iron-framed beds among traditional Morocco interior crafts such as colourful handwoven rugs and iconic lanterns, and “breaking bread” in the desert with sustainable local produce grown locally in the Draa Valley and delivered by camel.
Sahara Safari Camp works in close partnership with the local tribal community to bring social and economic benefits to the region, whilst minimising any environmental impact on the land.
The campsite, which is spread out over four hectares of dune and date palm strewn Sahara, is a 6-7 hour drive from Marrakech. Accessible only by 4×4, camel or on foot, it offers families as well as adventure travellers a once-in-a-lifetime escape in to pure wilderness and untouched beauty.
Catering for all budgets, authentic Berber Nomad tents, made from brown camel hair, offer floor mattresses for budget travellers, while the deluxe tents feature cast-iron framed beds and “en-suite” facilities.
The camp, a Moroccan responsible tourism project, is also a nod to eco-glamping with bio-loos; solar-charged lighting; and the use of recycled tyres to make buckets and water jugs for showering.
