Wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan shares insights on world’s wonderful creatures

Wildlife cameraman and presenter Gordon Buchanan has had some hair-raising and endearing moments with wildlife, captivating audiences worldwide with his natural rapport with animal inhabitants of this world.

The Scotsman will be sharing insights into his incredible experiences with some of the world’s most fearsome and majestic animals, as part of a UK tour, entitled Animal Families and Me, which runs until 15 October. Audiences, including kids and adults, are invited to ask the cameraman and BBC presenter questions on his experiences.

Animal Families and Me promises a unique opportunity to hear personal recollections of Gordon Buchanan’s globetrotting travels, as he delves into the world of weird, wild and wonderful wildlife all illustrated with his own film footage and photography.

The wildlife cameraman, who grew up on the Isle of Mull and now lives in Glasgow, has always had an affinity with nature. Growing up in Mull, he loved the great outdoors and wildlife documentaries fronted by his hero David Attenborough.

With more than 20 years filming wildlife in remote areas of the planet, Gordon Buchanan has taken part in challenging expeditions and adventures around the globe including South America, Asia, Africa, Papua New Guinea, Russia and Alaska, always with a view to raising awareness of the fragility of the world’s endangered species and habitats.

As a guardian, Gordon Buchanan believes he is in a good position to show people and make them aware of the importance of nature and wildlife, and the need to protect them.

In an interview with Scotchwhisky.com, Gordon Buchanan said: “I realised that it’s morally wrong for me not to do all that I can for the natural world. I was passionate about being a cameraman. Now I’m passionate about the natural world, and this grows and grows as time goes on. I have an opportunity to help in ways that other people can’t. To show people that these things need to be protected.”
