Elegant yet practical furniture with a skateboarder’s twist comes courtesy of I’M:BOARD, handmade ergonomically-designed furniture made from sustainable skateboard decks.
I’M:BOARD’s collection currently comprises of two items of furniture – the classic and iconic, Board:Chair, and a footstool. The Board:Chair is a handmade lounge chair, made from four bamboo skateboard decks composed with an ergonomically curved frame in furniture birch-veneer of high quality.
The lounge chair features beautiful curves defined by the skateboards used, and while eye-catching and stylish in design, it does not comprise on practicality, durability and comfort. The chair comes in three ways – wood framed, padded and cushioned.
I’M:BOARD was founded in 2004 by Kasper Bugge Møller, a well-known skateboarder in the Danish skateboard community since the 1980s.
Kasper Bugge Møller wanted to create an untraditional piece of furniture that reflected his own lifelong prediliction for the skateboard culture, having crafted his first piece of furniture made out of his own used skateboard decks in 2001.
The skateboarder and designer was inspired by Danish furniture classics and felt combining that with the beautiful concave shape of a skateboard was a perfect blend. Every Board:Chair and footstool is handmade in Denmark in cooperation with professional designers and cabinet makers.
I’M:BOARD are hoping to extend its range of Danish designed skateboard furniture.
