WASTED! The Story of Food Waste is a documentary film which aims to change the way people buy, cook, recycle, and eat food.
Through the the eyes of well-known chefs and food waste champions such as Massimo Bottura, Anthony Bourdain, Dan Barber, Mario Batali, and Danny Bowien, WASTED! The Story of Food Waste shows viewers how these chefs make the most of every kind of food, transforming what most people consider scraps into incredible dishes that create a more secure food system.
One-third of the food grown annually for human consumption is never eaten and ends up in the garbage. That’s $218 billion – or 1.3 billion tons – of food annually.
In the US, families throw away around 25% of the food and beverages they buy at an annual cost of $1,365 to $2,275.
WASTED! The Story of Food Waste exposes the criminality of food waste and how it’s directly contributing to climate change and shows how everyone can make small changes to solve a major issue for this planet.
