Winter Solstice: Fun facts for Kids

Winter Solstice or Yule takes place on 21 December. It marks the shortest day of the year and the official beginning of winter.

Representing rebirth and renewal, many of the traditions now associated with and as being part of Christmas – including Yule logs, mistletoe and Christmas trees – have their roots in winter solstice celebrations.
