Hydrophil’s sustainable alternative to cotton buds or Q-tips

If cotton buds or Q-tips are a “necessity” in your household, check out Hydrophil’s sustainable alternative – cotton swabs made from cotton and bamboo.

Hydrophil’s Cotton Swabs, which come in a recycled cardboard box, can easily be disposed of after usage in your organic waste bin or compost.

Cotton buds are one of the most common item of litter found on Britain’s beaches. The Scottish government plans to ban the manufacture and sale of plastic-stemmed cotton buds in a move that will cut the country’s marine plastic pollution by half.

The Hamburg-based company, Hydrophil, specialises in “innovative sustainable hygiene products”. Set up by three friends in 2012, Hydrophil’s product range now includes eco-friendly toothbrushes made from bamboo, vegan condoms, soaps, and herbal toothcare products.

Hydrophil donate 10% of all profits to a non-profit organisation called Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli, which campaigns for people living in the southern hemisphere to get and remain access to clean drinking water.
