Ethical Barcode: App exposes the ethical credentials of products you buy

Ethical Barcode is an app which allows consumers to shop ethically, enabling them to check the ethical credentials of companies simply by scanning the barcode of a product while grocery shopping.

The app, which is available for both iPhone and Android, aims to educates consumers about the products they buy and the companies who make them. It was built to enlighten customers about the brands they buy and the practices they are supporting as a result.

Using information gathered from 20 different non-profits and hundreds of other external sources, the app gives each product an overall score out of 100 alongside a breakdown of further relevant rating detailed information about the ethical social and environmental providence of goods.

By providing information that the general public doesn’t have access to, Ethical Barcode gives power to consumers to boycott companies that have “green washed” their products.

Ethical Barcode is available to download for free from the Apple Store and Google Play
