Daily Rites: Illustrator Tom Berry explores the impulses hidden beneath the mundane

Illustrator Tom Berry puts habits and patterns under the spotlight in Daily Rites, an exhibition of images which depicts daily tasks, and the primal feelings which underpin them.

Daily Rites, which is also an ongoing series of images, is a visual representation which explores the impulses hidden beneath the mundane. It is concerned with ritual and desire, and other instincts which underpin the modern humdrum.

Bold silhouettes of city workers doing battle with mobile phones and people riding on top of their domestic animals as if minor deities from a mythical tale feature in Tom Berry’s Daily Rites collection, finished off with vibrant colours.

Each design is first painted in monochrome on wood panel, and a small edition of screenprints are produced from this image.
