Donald Trump-lookalike trashes solar farm in satirical ad-campaign for OVO Energy

The movement towards renewable energy is inevitable and nothing or no one can stop it from happening, regardless of the “power” that politicians like US President Donald Trump claim to have. This is a message that has been reiterated by OVO Energy, the UK’s largest independent energy supplier, in their latest advertising campaign.

OVO Energy’s campaign, Power Your Life Differently, features a film that appears to show Donald Trump recklessly smashing a solar panel with a golf club.

In a poke at the US President and in British satire-style, the short film portrays Donald Trump arriving at a ground-mount solar farm equipped with a driver before proceeding to smash one of its panels.

The film makes the point that not even certain world leaders, who have the power to make the wrong decisions on behalf of the entire planet, can stop the movement towards renewable energy.

Teaming up with art provocateur Alison Jackson, who shot the film footage, OVO Energy has described the advertising campaign as their “biggest and most provocative” to date.

Power Your Life Differently calls on people in the UK to choose renewable energy to safeguard “our environmental future”.

Sarah Keegan, Brand Director at OVO Energy, said: “We’re taking a stand against politicians and high-profile individuals who stand in the way of sustainable progress by unequivocally supporting fossil fuels and denying climate change.

“We’re making the point that if you’re against what they for stand for when it comes to powering our planet, we’re with you.”
