London has always been a hotbed of creativity and has spearheaded musical movements that captures the essence and diversity of its musical inhabitants and the city itself.
We Out Here: A LDN Story is a a short documentary that documents the city’s “jazz” scene, being championed by young musicians including Moses Boyd, Ezra Collective, Nubya Garcia, Theon Cross, Maisha and Shabaka Hutchings, among others.
The film tells the journey of these young, gifted players, many of whom have trained and come up together, and whose sounds are now becoming an integral part of London’s musical landscape – as well as representing the city around the UK and the rest of the world. It also captures friendship, community and the influences of the city that these musicians call home.
We Out Here: A LDN Story accompanies a compilation album of the same title released by Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label earlier this year.
