If you are in need of a pick-me-up after a night of celebrating the New Year, there are numerous natural remedies that you can make to cure a hangover using everyday ingredients that you may already have in the kitchen.
Lemon or Lime
Citrus fruits are effective in countering the unpleasant affects of alcohol.
Alcohol affects blood sugar and pH levels. Juice from citrus fruits such as lemon and lime helps to stabilise blood sugar and to bring pH levels to balance.
Add the juice of half a lemon or lime to a glass of water and sip slowly. You can also add honey for taste.
Wheatgrass
Wheatgrass is a potent green superfood which is full of powerful antioxidants. Given the presence of chlorophyll, wheatgrass cleanses and detoxifies the blood.
It is best consumed fresh, so if you have a juice bar or health food shop closeby, get yourself a shot of wheatgrass. Alternatively, it can be bought in powdered form and mixed with water.
Ginger
Ginger is a potent herb that which helps to counter the effects of nausea and vomiting, as well as relieves headaches.
Grab a piece of ginger root and slice it before adding to a pan of water. Bring to the boil to make a fresh ginger tea. Strain and serve. Add honey to taste.

Alcohol depletes B-vitamins and dehydrates, so a multi-vitamin and big glass of water before bed as well as an aspirin as it dilates blood vessels so the re-hydration can work easier. This formula has saved me many times.
