Sustainable denim brand DL 1961 has got everyone covered in its range of denim basics to now include a plus-size range.
DL1961’s plus-size or inclusive size range includes skinny jeans, mid-rise and wide leg jeans in US sizes 14-24.
The New York-based brand uses ethically sourced, premium cotton, as well as eco-friendly fibres such as Promodal and Refibra™ lyocell to make denim products that are comfortable, sculpting, and that never lose shape. DL1961 also make use of natural indigo dyes derived from plants.
DL1961 is one of a number of sustainable fashion brands that are becoming conscious of the need to make their clothing inclusive. LA-based sustainable clothing label, Reformation recently announced that it was launching a permanent plus-size collection. It follows on from the success of their temporary inclusive size capsule collection that they launched last year.
DL1961, whose factory is powered by solar power and features a water recycling plant, claims it saves approximately 50 million gallons of water through its on-site recycling plant and efficient machinery. The sustainable denim brand also donated nearly 5,000 pounds of excess fabric to FABSCRAP, a non-profit that upcycles commercial textiles, in 2018.
