A home can never have too many plants but if you are short on space to place them, you may want to check out what BloomingTables are creating.
BloomingTables is an elegant functional living table that doubles up as both a raised planter and table.
This piece of living furniture has been designed for use as a table that fits directly under a window sill, or a place in the home where there is lots of natural light.
The 30” tall plant stand features a steel frame and white painted maple veneer box. The maple box is fitted with an acrylic tub that keeps everything watertight, protecting both the table and floors from water.
Simply line the tub with gravel and activated charcoal to absorb water and keep it from overflowing. Then add soil and choice of plants.
A tempered-glass tabletop is held by UV resistant suction cups which keeps the table in place. When it’s time to water the plants, simply lift the glass off the suction cups, water, and replace the glass tabletop.
BloomingTables is the brainchild of San Diego-based Dustin Anthony who created the living table to enable more room for plants in his space.
He said: “As plant lovers, it wasn’t long before we were running out of places to keep our plants. We wanted to find a way to bring more plants into our lives in a new and innovative way. There are an abundance of stunning species of plants, and countless ways to create arrangements. However, there are limited options for the housing of indoor plants. BloomingTables was born out of the idea that beautiful plants deserve beautiful homes. We have created a product that has brought character and joy into our home, and we want to share this experience with others.”
BloomingTables, which launched a Kickstarter campaign last month, has already surpassed its $20,000 goal having reached $27,942 at the time of writing.
