Forest Tales: Great Big Story meets people who’ve made the forests central to their lives

Forests have a positive impact on people all over the world – from natives who call the forest home, nature lovers who reap its healing benefits, through to kids who adore the natural playground.

In the short film below, Great Big Story meets individuals who have made the forest a central part of their lives. They include Warrick Mitchell who lives off the land in Fiordland, New Zealand, one of the most remote locations in the world; sound tracker Gordon Hampton who searches the globe in search of vanishing sounds; Walter Dean Lewis who operates Old Car City, a junkyard that has taken root in Georgia where nature is fast reclaiming old cars; and husband-and-wife team Anil and Pamela Malhotra who have taken deforested land in India and brought it back to life and with local wildlife too.
