A Backyard Nature campaign is enlisting the help of young guardians to take birds “under their wing” this winter by making sure they have plenty to eat and drink.
Backyard Nature Guardians are being called on to make bird feeders from natural materials such as pine cones or apples that they can then place in their own garden or backyard or at a community project or school garden.
Birds can struggle to find food in winter, particularly in towns and cities. By providing food and water during the colder months, nature guardians can encourage feathered visitors to their patch and help the wild bird population thrive again.
Backyard Nature’s website is a resource for kids and adults to find out about seasonal-based nature campaigns, local events, and how to guides.
Backyard Nature was set up to get children to spend more time enjoying and protecting nature where they live.
