Grow Your Own Forest campaign aims to make forest restoring and tree planting “a new normal”

TreeSisters’ Grow Your Own Forest is calling for people to take direct action to restore tropical forests worldwide, by funding the planting of trees to help cool the world.

TreeSisters mission is to accelerate reforestation in the tropics by making it as normal to give back to nature as it currently is to take. To date they have funded the planting of over 6.5 million trees across the tropics.

Grow Your Own Forest includes an ecologically and culturally diverse portfolio of projects including the planting of trees in the Atlantic and Amazon rainforests of Brazil, the upland forests of Mount Kenya and Mount Bamboutos in Cameroon, and in Khasi Hills in North East India, mangroves in Madagascar, Mozambique and soon West Papua, agro-forestry in Southern India, and community forests in Nepal.

All of TreeSisters’ planting projects involve and employ local communities to ensure the long term success of the trees planted and support the rebuilding of the human connection to nature. TreeSisters channels and nurtures feminine nature-based leadership around the world, to restore balance and promote planetary and personal wellbeing.

Clare Dubois, Founder of TreeSisters, said: “Nature has given us everything and we have taken it all for granted. If we want the privilege of a habitable climate for our children, then we need to help create it. That’s why we’re asking literally everyone to start giving monthly to reforest our world.”

“The choice to grow a forest is a powerful one. It’s a choice that will transform lives and lands, sequester carbon and protect endangered species, produce rainfall, restore rivers and groundwater. Making this choice values the children of every species and the climate that they will inherit. It says ‘I care’.”

Donations made to TreeSisters goes towards funding trees that will be planted globally. A total of 80% directly funds TreeSisters reforestation programme. A further 15% funds TreeSisters charitable programmes around feminine empowerment and social change work, while 5% supports TreeSisters core costs to curate and deliver the above.
