House of Herbology: Herbal Facial Toner

Herbs, plants and anything from nature is versatile. It comes as no surprise then that what you drink perhaps as a herbal tea can also be used in your beauty and haircare regime.

Facial toners can be used on all skin types. Making your own facial toner from herbs is easy and it means you can make your own formula that is suitable for your skin type. The below video shows you how to make a facial toner by brewing a herbal tea and leaving it to cool. This can last up to a week in the fridge with the use of a simple preservative.

If you want to make a witch hazel toner, it would require making an extract with the dried flowers and soaking it in alcohol for at least a month, similar to how you would make a tincture, before adding distilled water to make a witch hazel dilute that can then be used as a facial toner. Such a toner would have an extended shelf life then the simple herbal toner made from steeping dried flowers in hot water, as you would do a tea.
