Making your own non-toxic sunscreen at home is simple and easy using skin nourishing ingredients such as coconut oil and shea butter. Shea butter and coconut oil combined has an SPF of around 4.
If you require a higher SPF due to sensitive skin, you can up the SPF naturally by adding zinc oxide to the base oils of coconut oil and shea butter. When using zinc oxide in skin products, be sure to look for non-nano zinc oxide.
The below video uses a number of oils in the recipe for natural sunscreen, but you can of course make a natural sunscreen using three key ingredients – that being coconut oil, shea butter and zinc oxide.
