Garda by Bike – a 140km-long cycling trail that circles Italy’s largest lake, Lake Garda – is opening next year.
The new route is constructed of partially existing bike paths as well as new tracks that will take cyclists from Lombardy through Trento and the Veneto and back. It will also link up to the continent-spanning European cycle routes Eurovelo Route 7 and Eurovelo Route 8.
The Garda by Bike cycle path will go around Lake Garda and be completed in 2021. Partial tracks are already open. In 2018, a 2 km bike path leading from Capo Reamol in Limone sul Garda on the west coast was opened. It is partly built close to rugged cliffs and also above the water.
Garda by Bike is a wide path and is suitable for families as there are no steep climbs and the bridge sections are well secured. The bike path is paved with planks of wood and is comfortable for all types of bikes.
