We the Power: New short from Patagonia Films looks at the community-owned future of energy

We the Power, a new film by Patagonia Films, explores the citizen-led community-renewable energy movement in Europe and the visionaries lighting the way.

We the Power follows friends, families and visionaries as they break down legislative barriers and take power back from big energy companies to put in the hands of locals. The film, which will be released on 15 April, aims to show that the future of energy is community-owned.

The film chronicles local cooperatives from deep in Germany’s Black Forest to the streets of ancient Girona in Spain and the urban rooftops of London, England, as they pave the way for a renewable-energy revolution and build healthier, more financially stable communities.

Patagonia Films says: “Imagine upending the traditional energy system and giving the power of clean electricity production back to your neighbours. The future is bright when we make our own light. But to build a resilient energy future that’s local, participative and democratic, we need more people who believe that generating our own clean electricity is as natural as growing our own food. Together, let’s bring the benefits of renewable power production home.”
