Women Who Rock: Docu-series charts women pioneers in music

Women Who Rock is a new documentary series that honours women pioneers in music and their legacy.

The four-part series, which recently broadcast on MGM’s network Epix, features appearances by Nancy Wilson, Shania Twain, Chaka Khan, Pat Benatar, Mavis Staples, Sheryl Crow, Sheila E, Macy Gray, Rickie Lee Jones, Norah Jones, and more.

In their own words, the female musicians discuss fame, power, and music in the new series.

The first episode ‘Truth’ digs into the roots of rock ‘n’ roll music in the 1950s and ’60s, focusing on Mavis Staples (The Staple Singers), Janis Joplin and Chaka Kahn as well as other female artists that paved the way for future female rock stars.

The Women Who Rock series goes on to explore their artistic expression, the hard work that led to their successes, and most importantly, the insights and tales behind their music.
